01.Who is JG*?

My name is JG* and I started this blog as a way to raise money and awareness about issues I feel passionately about. I realized that there was a lot happening in my country and in MY world that really gets me all worked up and ready to act. READY to act. How many of us are passionate about things, but never do anything to set it in motion? I know I have fallen into that trap myself. So I started this blog as a way to speak on some issues, raise some awareness, raise some money, and have fun with it.  With that being said, your giving will not be in vain, as it will be an act of charity! Here’s the deal. On March 28th, I will run my first 5k race ever here in the great city of Atlanta. You think to yourself “so what? That’s nothing” Well, here’s the thing, I don’t run. I barely skip, and I am the opposite of Athletic. However, I figured I’ll do something challenging to show the people I’m serious, get fit, and have some fun with it, all the while doing something I’m passionate about. Helping. I will document and blog every step of the way hopefully to make you laugh, inspire you to join in and run your own race, and of course, teach you a little something about what’s going on in the world and how you can help.

After the 5k, I’ll run a 10k. Same idea. I’ll raise money for a cause, I’ll document my training, all the ups and downs, and when I succeed another cause will be better off for it, and I’ll be more fit than a fiddle.

You should be getting the idea by now. Following the 10k, I’ll go for the Half-Marathon, then the BIG SHOW. If Oprah can do it, so can I.

I plan to make this a get fit for life, while saving lives effort. So join in, log on, and have fun. Share your stories, links, ideas, and feedback. If you want to run a race and raise money for my cause as well, send me an email and we’ll get you logged in. I’ll welcome guest blogs of any sort. Pictures, video blogs, I’m all ears.

Ultimately, I have even bigger goals with this project that I’ll share along the way. As someone who has no background in running, it should be interesting. But we’ll see how it goes. 🙂

I want to send special thanks to one of the greatest people I’ve ever known. David Cummings ( 1986-2008 ) inspired me to live life and to always leave people with more than they gave you. He was an amazing person, and I look forward to running a race in his memory.

I also want to say a special “Thanks” to my friend Morris Thorpe. He inspired me to get off the couch and into this first 5k race and that whole idea inspired me to combine it with my philanthropy. So ‘Thanks!’

Thank you to my new friend and trainer Manuel Patterson for dedicating his time training me. I don’t know if he has a clue as to what he’s getting into but we’ll see!

Outside of that, thank you to all of my friends and family who always support everything that I do no matter how crazy of far-fetched. Whether there in person or not, you all know that you’ll be at the finish lines with me. 🙂

With God’s love,
